artist statement

Pleasure is the sole motivation for my latest series of abstract paintings: pleasure in the dramatic color schemes of the images; pleasure in the flowing compositions; pleasure in the sensuous movement of paint during the wet-in-wet technique that is the signature of this series; and ultimately, the pleasure I take in viewing the finished canvases, each one of which memorializes an exploration of the material delights of painting.

I have created artwork for several bands, and I am a musician myself. From 1985 to 1992, I was the drummer and occasional songwriter for the Gear Daddies. In 2001, the band reunited, and I currently drum for the band whenever we decide to play a show.
